RIYADH: After spending nearly two decades in Saudi Arabia as a domestic worker in Al Kharj, tirelessly sacrificing her youth and comfort to support her family back home, 67-year-old Veera Venkamma from Rajolu in Andhra Pradesh found herself devastated by the heartbreaking news of her mother’s demise in India. For the past 12 years, she had not returned home, while her elderly mother lovingly cared for her two daughters in her absence.
The tragedy left Veera Venkamma emotionally shattered. Though she longed to return home one final time to bid farewell to her mother, she was helpless as she lacked the essential travel documents required for her journey. Moved by her plight, GIO Al Kharj President Naser Ponnani swiftly rolled up his sleeves and intervened by contacting the Indian Embassy with the support of Mr. Srinivas Machha, Riyadh SATA President, to expedite the necessary procedures and assistance.
Indian Embassy officials extended timely assistance and facilitated the completion of all formalities through the Al Kharj Labour Court.
In a touching gesture of humanitarian solidarity, and standing as a strong support system for the Telugu community in Saudi Arabia, SATA organisations in Saudi Arabia stepped forward in tandem to arrange her flight ticket enabling her safe return to India during her moment of profound grief. On this occasion, SATA Founder Malleshan, along with SATA Riyadh President Srinivas Machha, Sarvani Vidyadharani, Global Telugu Nazia, SATA Eastern Region President Teja Pallem, Global Telugu Ramireddy Pamireddy, and the Al Kharj team appreciated the humanitarian supporters and the officials of the Indian Embassy for their valuable help and services.
With tears of gratitude and a heart weighed down by grief, Veera Venkamma thanked all those compassionate individuals and SATA organisations who came to her aid during one of the most painful moments of her life, saying their timely support restored her faith in humanity and kindness.
