RIYADH: In a significant testament to the enduring bond between Telangana and its global Telugu diaspora, a delegation of the Saudi Arabia Telugu Association (SATA) called on Hon’ble Telangana Minister Shri Ponnam Prabhakar Garu and Hon’ble MLA Shri Medipally Sathyam Garu in Hyderabad on Friday, September 4, 2026. The meeting underscored the diaspora’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its rich linguistic and cultural heritage while fostering stronger ties with its homeland. During the interaction, the SATA delegation extended a formal invitation to the Hon’ble Minister and MLA to grace the Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam (Telugu Language Day) celebrations, scheduled to be held in Riyadh on September 18, 2026.
The delegation also apprised the dignitaries of SATA’s wide-ranging social, cultural and community initiatives across Saudi Arabia, highlighting its sustained endeavours to preserve, promote and propagate the Telugu language, heritage, traditions and cultural identity, while nurturing solidarity and a strong sense of belonging among the Telugu diasporas.
The Hon’ble Minister and MLA warmly appreciated the commendable efforts of the Telugu community abroad, whose deep-rooted predilection for preserving, nurturing and promoting their mother tongue, rich cultural heritage and cherished traditions reflects their enduring commitment to keeping their cultural identity vibrant and relevant across generations.
They particularly lauded SATA’s dedicated initiatives and sustained commitment towards strengthening Telugu linguistic and cultural identity among the diaspora, describing such endeavours as a valuable contribution to keeping the community’s deep-rooted heritage alive across generations.
The SATA delegation comprised Mahesh K.P., Bhasker Reddy Vontela, Pavan Kumar P., Ganpati Reddy, Javvaji Mallesham, Nazia Miraj, and Shikandar.
