Hyderabad: Piles of garbage have become a routine sight across various parts of Hyderabad city. At several locations, the waste has spread so much that it occupies nearly half the road. The resulting dirt and foul smell are not only causing difficulty for pedestrians but also disrupting the smooth flow of traffic.
These garbage dumps are emerging as major breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The sharp rise in mosquito population poses a serious risk of disease outbreaks in the city. Greater Hyderabad is ranked among the five major developed cities of the country, yet such scenes of unmanaged waste are damaging the city’s image.
If the concerned authorities fail to take immediate action on this issue, the city’s reputation will suffer further, and the public will face serious health and civic problems.
