Jeddah – In a constructive and forward-looking meeting, representatives of the Telangana International Organization (TIA) met with the management of the International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) to discuss key issues affecting students and their academic progress. The interaction reflected a shared commitment to student welfare and a collective effort to identify practical and effective solutions.
The Telangana International Organization (TIA) delegation was represented by Mohammed Aslam Afghani, DirectorEducation & Youth Development; Farooq Ahmed, Director Community Welfare; Durga Bhawani, Director Telugu Language and Cultural Activities; and Syed Abdul Wahab Quadri, Associate Director Community Welfare.
Representing the International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ), the meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammed Aslam Khan, Chairman of the Management Committee; Syed Nayeem Uddin, Member of the Management Committee; Dr. Mohammed Asif Khan, Member of the Management Committee; and Gilman Raza, Controller of Examinations.
A key issue discussed was a formal request by TIA representatives for re-examination opportunities for Grade 9 & 11 students who had failed in two or more subjects in the board examinations. Stressing the value of second chances, the representatives stated that such measures would help protect students’ academic futures and boost their confidence.
Adding to the discussion, Durga Bhawani representing TIA & Jeddah Telagu Mitrulu( (JTM) highlighted the challenges faced by students from Telugu-speaking backgrounds. She noted that many students encounter academic difficulties when required to shift from Telugu to Hindi in higher grades after 8 standards, a transition that often affects their performance and overall scores. She proposed the continuation of Telugu as a second language in higher classes, emphasizing that it would not only enhance academic outcomes but also help preserve students’ linguistic and cultural identity.
The meeting also addressed concerns raised by parents regarding fee-related matters, reflecting the wider range of issues affecting the school community. TIA representatives requested the School Management Committee to approve installment and fee discount facility to long term due parents.
Responding positively, IISJ Chairman Dr. Mohammed Aslam Khan and other members of the Management Committee present at the meeting acknowledged the concerns raised and assured the representatives that the matters would be carefully reviewed. They noted that the school principal, who is the authorized decision-maker, is currently on vacation. The Management Committee further confirmed that all issues would be taken up promptly upon the principal’s return for appropriate action.
The meeting concluded on a positive and hopeful note, with both sides expressing their willingness to work collaboratively in the best interests of the students. The discussions highlighted the importance of dialogue in strengthening educational support systems and fostering a more inclusive learning environment.
