Teaneck, New Jersey, USA:
In a remarkable display of faith, unity, and multicultural harmony, more than 15,000 Muslims gathered at the Teaneck Armory Soccer Coliseum in New Jersey to celebrate the auspicious festival of Eid-ul-Adha, one of the most significant occasions in the Islamic calendar. The grand congregation, organized by the Eid Committee of New Jersey, was among the largest Eid gatherings held in the United States this year and reflected the rich diversity and growing strength of the Muslim community across America.
The massive Eid prayer gathering was led by the Eid Committee under the leadership of Mr. Khaja Khateeb, whose dedication and community service have made the annual celebrations a landmark event for Muslims residing in the region. People from diverse ethnic, cultural, and national backgrounds came together to offer prayers, exchange greetings, and celebrate the spirit of sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood that defines Eid-ul-Adha.
The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries from Bergen County, highlighting the strong relationship between local government institutions and the Muslim community. Among those present were Bergen County Executive James Tedesco, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and Bergen County Clerk John Hogan, who joined thousands of worshippers in celebrating the joyous occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the county officials extended warm Eid greetings and reflected on the timeless message of Eid-ul-Adha, commemorating the supreme sacrifice and unwavering faith of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). They emphasized that the festival carries a universal message of devotion, selflessness, compassion, and service to humanity.
The dignitaries praised the contributions of the Muslim community to American society and reiterated the importance of fostering mutual respect, peace, and understanding among people of different faiths and backgrounds. They noted that Islam promotes discipline, compassion, and social harmony, values that are essential for building stronger and more inclusive communities.
A special highlight of the event was the presence of Indian politician and senior Congressman Khaleequr Rahman, who attended the celebrations as a distinguished guest. Rahman was warmly welcomed by community leaders, organizers, and members of the congregation.
Speaking on the occasion, Khaleequr Rahman conveyed heartfelt Eid greetings to Muslims across the United States on his own behalf and on behalf of the people of India. He highlighted the spiritual significance of Eid-ul-Adha and its enduring message of sacrifice, faith, gratitude, and service to humanity.
In his address, Rahman expressed his appreciation to the administration of the Teaneck Armory and Bergen County officials for facilitating such a large and well-organized gathering. He commended their support in providing the impressive and spacious Soccer Coliseum, enabling thousands of worshippers to come together comfortably and celebrate the festival in a spirit of unity and fellowship.
Rahman also lauded the efforts of Khaja Khateeb and the members of the Eid Committee of New Jersey for their tireless dedication toward community welfare and their continued efforts to promote universal brotherhood, peace, harmony, and interfaith understanding.
“The success of this gathering is a reflection of the commitment and hard work of the Eid Committee and the volunteers who work throughout the year to bring communities together. Such events strengthen social bonds and reinforce the universal values of peace, respect, and coexistence,” Rahman remarked.
Recalling a historic milestone in the Muslim community’s celebrations in New Jersey, Rahman referred to the landmark Eid prayers organized by the Eid Committee in 2019 at the world-famous MetLife Stadium, where more than 50,000 Muslims gathered to offer Eid prayers. He noted that the same stadium is scheduled to host the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, underscoring the significance of the venue and the extraordinary scale of the previous Eid congregation.
The festive atmosphere extended well beyond the prayer service. Following the prayers, families and friends spent time together enjoying a variety of food stalls, cultural interactions, and community activities organized by the Eid Committee. The venue transformed into a vibrant celebration of faith, friendship, and cultural diversity, with attendees enjoying traditional cuisines and exchanging Eid greetings.
The event once again demonstrated the growing visibility and positive contributions of the Muslim community in the United States while highlighting the values of inclusion, mutual respect, and civic engagement. It also showcased how community organizations, local governments, and faith leaders can work together to create meaningful spaces that celebrate diversity and strengthen social cohesion.
As thousands departed the venue after a day filled with prayer, reflection, and celebration, the message of Eid-ul-Adha resonated strongly: a message of sacrifice, compassion, unity, and hope for a more peaceful and harmonious world.
The successful gathering at the Teaneck Armory stands as yet another milestone in the history of Eid celebrations in the United States and a testament to the enduring spirit of community that continues to unite people across cultures, faiths, and nationalities.
