Union road and transport minister Nitin Gadkari
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is set to launch a series of major infrastructure projects worth ₹6,280 crore in Telangana on May 5, 2025. These projects aim to enhance regional connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and boost economic growth across the state.
Key Projects Set for Inauguration
Among the notable developments is the Amberpet Bridge, built at a cost of ₹350 crore. Though already operational, the bridge will be formally inaugurated during the Minister’s visit.
Another major initiative is the six-lane expansion of the Aramghar–Shamshabad stretch in Hyderabad. This ₹300 crore project is expected to significantly improve traffic flow along this high-density corridor.
In addition to these, foundation stones will be laid for several other national highway projects, further strengthening Telangana’s road network under the National Highways Development initiative.
Broader Infrastructure Push
Over the last six years, the central government has approved road projects totaling ₹31,000 crore in Telangana. These include expressways connecting Hyderabad to key cities like Bangalore and Vijayawada, as well as upgrades to 12 state highways, converting them into national highways.
These projects fall under the ambit of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, a flagship program aimed at developing efficient road corridors for both freight and passenger traffic across the country.
Anticipated Impact
The new and upcoming infrastructure is expected to reduce travel time, cut fuel consumption, and lower carbon emissions. Beyond environmental benefits, these developments are projected to create job opportunities and spur economic activity throughout the region.
With these investments, residents of Telangana—particularly in and around Hyderabad—can look forward to smoother, faster, and more reliable road travel in the years ahead.
