In a shocking incident at a Marriage Function Hall in Hyderabad last week, an ambulance was inappropriately used during a Valima (wedding reception) celebration. Disturbing footage circulating on social media shows the ambulance stretcher adorned with a floral garland and mint, accompanied by band members dressed in doctor-like caps playing marfa during the procession. This unusual act, intended as a surprise for the groom by his friends, has ignited widespread outrage and criticism.
The misuse of an ambulance, a vehicle sacredly regarded for transporting patients in emergencies, has been labeled as a disrespectful mockery. This function was attended by many well-known politicians and personalities from different backgrounds, who did not realize the nature of the event at the time. Now, they are regretting their participation, expressing that had they known such an incident would occur, they would have avoided it altogether. Religious leaders and community members have expressed deep sorrow, warning that such behavior reflects a decline in moral values and could bring shame to society. Social media reactions have been intense, with thousands of comments flooding various platforms, calling for strict action against those involved.
Comments on platforms like X highlight the public’s dismay:
- “This is not a joke please think twice before doing nonsense things.”
- “Police must register a case on all of them. Ambulance is for patients, not for entertainment.”
- “Miss use of Ambulance. Case book hota kare toh. Ambulance wale ke upper be case book karo.”
- “Astfurallah. Mayyat ka mazaq banaye dekha gayaaa toh.”
- “Allah hidayat de in na laeq logon ko. Bohot afsoos ki baat hai. Khuda na qwasta dulha ya dulhan ya koi relative ku medical emergency hojati toh ambulance ready thi.”
Some defend the act as an attempt by the groom’s friends—reportedly including doctors—to create a unique surprise, reflecting the young generation’s desire for creativity. However, they acknowledge the method was wrong, given the ambulance’s critical role in medical emergencies. Critics argue this sets a dangerous precedent, potentially normalizing such acts in future wedding functions and sending a wrong signal to other communities.
Calls for action are growing, with demands for the police to investigate, register cases against the organizers and ambulance providers, and impose hefty fines. The incident raises questions about the source of the ambulance and whether proper permissions were obtained. Community leaders urge educating the younger generation about moral values and respecting symbols associated with life and death.
This controversy underscores the need for stricter regulations to prevent the misuse of emergency services, ensuring they remain reserved for their intended purpose.
