A heartfelt condolence program was organized by Hindustani Bazm-e-Urdu and Mohabban-e-Urdu, Riyadh on Thursday, July 17, 2025, to pay tribute to the late Mir Firasat Ali Khusro and Dr. Abdul Moiz, two beloved members of the community. The event took place at Chatkhare Restaurant in Hara, Riyadh, under the patronage of the prominent Urdu literary figure Architect Abdul Rahman Saleem (A. R. Saleem) (Chicago), Engineer Mohammed Mubin, and others.
Mir Firasat Ali Khusro was a well-known Urdu poet, celebrated for his profound and evocative poetry that resonated with many. He was also recognized for his exceptional program anchoring skills, which brought warmth and engagement to numerous cultural and literary events. Dr. Abdul Moiz was a distinguished chemist who made significant contributions in academia. He worked at King Saud University and later at Riyadh College of Dentistry and Pharmacy in Riyadh. Before relocating to Hyderabad, India, he also served at a private college in Jeddah.
The gathering commenced at 7:30 PM, following the Maghrib prayer, and featured emotional speeches and reflections on the lives and contributions of the departed souls. The program was anchored by Senior Journalist Mohammed Saifuddin. Speeches were delivered by Dr. Dilshad Ahmad, Dr. Ashraf, Dr. Syed Masood, A. R. Saleem, Mohammed Mubin, Dr. Saeed Nawaz, and many others. A renowned Poet & Writer, Azra Naqvi, sent her condolences message from India, which was read out by A. R. Saleem. Additionally, a condolences message from Senior Journalist and Columnist, K N. Wasif, was read out by Mohammed Saifuddin in the meeting. The event concluded with a poetry session conducted by local resident poets, adding a poignant touch to the remembrance.
The event was attended by notable literary personalities including Mazhar Sultan, Amjad Zubair, Muhammad Farooq, Basith Abu Maaz, Mirza Sadullah Baig (Sohail), Syed Abdul Hamid and others. A significant number of Urdu enthusiasts and respected personalities were present, adding to the solemnity of the occasion.
The event underscored the unity and resilience of the community in the face of loss, with many expressing gratitude for the chance to come together in remembrance.
The organizers expressed their deepest condolences to the families of Mir Firasat Ali Khusro and Dr. Abdul Moiz, extending their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
