RIYADH: The Riyadh Indian Association (RIA) transformed Almass Hall in Malaz into a vibrant hub of culture, creativity, and camaraderie as it hosted Art Fest 2026, a grand family gathering that brought together members of the Indian expatriate community for an evening of artistic expression and fellowship on June 5.
The programme commenced at 5:30 p.m. with a formal inauguration by Biju Joseph, President of RIA, who welcomed the attendees and emphasized the pivotal role of cultural initiatives in preserving heritage, fostering unity, and encouraging artistic excellence within the community.
Delivering the welcome address, Arul Natarajan, Convener of Art & Culture, highlighted the association’s continued efforts to promote cultural engagement and meaningful community interaction. Fellow speakers Isakki and Mahesh Muraleedharan echoed these sentiments, underscoring RIA’s commitment to inclusivity, cultural enrichment, and a welcoming spirit that embraces people from diverse backgrounds.
The cultural segment of the evening featured an impressive repertoire of performances by members, children, and families, reflecting a rich tapestry of talent and creativity. The event was seamlessly anchored by Manikandan Naganathan and Punya Anish, whose lively presentation and meticulous coordination infused the programme with energy and elegance.
Former RIA Presidents Ummer Kutty, Madhavan Sundar Raj, Binu Dharmarajan, Denny Emmatty, John Cleatus, and Ibrahim Subhan graced the occasion and lauded the organisers for orchestrating a meaningful event that reinforced community cohesion and cultural harmony.
One of the most significant moments of the evening was the Education Awards Ceremony, which honoured the academic achievements of students from RIA families who had secured admission to higher educational institutions and were preparing to pursue their future aspirations. The initiative underscored the association’s enduring commitment to recognising scholastic excellence while motivating young achievers to shoot the moon—to dream boldly, pursue lofty ambitions, and distinguish themselves through academic and professional excellence.
The awards were presented by RIA office bearers and unit conveners, including President Biju Joseph, Mahesh Muraleedharan, Vivek, Sandeep, Muthukannan, Sooraj Valsala, Arul Natarajan, Peter Raj, Aneesh, Sooraj Pillai, Sarath Kumar, and Benji.
The occasion was further distinguished by the presence of senior members TNR Nair, Nikhil, Arun Kumaran, Ragendu and others, whose participation added grace to the celebrations. In recognition of their dedication and artistic contributions, all performers were presented with appreciation gifts by the association.
The evening concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem, followed by a fellowship dinner, bringing to a close the memorable celebration that reflected the enduring values of unity, culture, and community service championed by the Riyadh Indian Association. Having successfully beaten the clock to deliver a seamless and engaging programme, the organisers earned widespread appreciation for their meticulous planning and flawless execution.
