This remarkable feat not only highlights her dedication and prowess in the pool but also stands as an inspiring beacon for aspiring athletes across the nation.
The championship, a cornerstone event for masters’ swimmers organized by the Swimming Federation of India and the Sports Authority of Telangana, brought together elite competitors from every corner of India to showcase grit, grace, and unyielding spirit at the Gachibowli Stadium Aquatic Complex in Hyderabad from November 21–23, 2025. Afira’s stellar performance in her category – securing silver in the 4x50m Medley Relay (Women) event during her debut at the national Masters level – has earned her a well-deserved spot on the podium, underscoring Telangana’s rising dominance in aquatic sports.
“Winning silver for my state is a dream come true – it’s the result of countless early mornings, rigorous training, and the unwavering support of my family and coaches,” Afira shared in a brief statement, her eyes gleaming with the thrill of victory. During the event, she opened up about her personal journey, revealing that it was far from easy. “My father, Nawazish Alam Khan, has been my coach and mentor from the very beginning. He taught me how to swim, and because of him, this victory has been possible,” she added gratefully, thanking her parents for their endless encouragement.
To celebrate this extraordinary achievement and give their champion the hero’s welcome she deserves, Afira’s family and the Western Multi Speciality Hospital team hosted a special felicitation event yesterday, November 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM. The gathering took place on the First Floor Conference Hall at the hospital, where friends, well-wishers and the broader community joined in the jubilation. Afira was accompanied by her father and other family members, with the hospital staff and management in full attendance to honor her success.
The warm welcome included a shawl presented by Dr. Shadan Quadri, Telangana’s first female Urologist, and a bouquet handed over by Intesar Alavi of Western Multi Speciality Hospital.
