Najran: The International Day of Yoga 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Najran under the auspices of the Consulate General of India, Jeddah, in association with Najran Tamil Mandram. The event brought together members of the Indian community and yoga enthusiasts from across the region, highlighting the importance of health, wellness, and community harmony.
The program commenced at 6:00 p.m. with the Indian National Anthem, setting a patriotic and cultural tone for the evening.
Dr. Maheswari Ganesan, President of Najran Tamil Mandram, welcomed the Chief Guest, distinguished guests, and participants. She expressed her appreciation for the strong community support that made the event a success.
The celebration was inaugurated by His Excellency Sri Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, Consul General of India in Jeddah. Addressing the gathering, he described yoga as India’s invaluable gift to the world and encouraged participants to embrace yoga as part of their daily routine for a healthier and more balanced life.
Delivering the special address, JTS Kajamohideen Meeran, President of the Saudi Arabia Tamil Sangam’s Federation, commended Najran Tamil Mandram for its continued efforts in organizing meaningful community programs. He also emphasized the importance of yoga and healthy living in today’s fast-paced world.
Mr. Saleem of KMCC Najran delivered the felicitation address and appreciated the organizers for promoting wellness and community engagement through such initiatives.
A major highlight of the event was the Common Yoga Protocol session conducted by members of the Najran Tamil Mandram Executive Board. Participants from various organizations, including Najran Tamil Mandram, Najran KMCC, Najran Indian Community, and the Indian Doctors Medical Forum (IDMF), actively took part in yoga postures and breathing exercises, demonstrating their commitment to physical and mental well-being.
The program also featured a health awareness talk titled “The Wellness Equation: Small Daily Shifts, Big Yoga Results” by Dr. Izar Ahmad Ansari, Emergency Physician at IDMF. His presentation focused on the long-term benefits of incorporating simple wellness practices into daily life.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Faisal Ibrahim, who expressed gratitude to the Consulate General of India, Jeddah, the distinguished guests, participants, volunteers, and supporters for their valuable contributions to the successful conduct of the program.
The proceedings were effectively compered by Dr. Joyce Elina Rani. The celebration ended with a fellowship dinner, fostering friendship, unity, and community spirit among attendees.
