JEDDAH: Against the backdrop of a steadily rising global cancer burden, a timely and thought-provoking health-awareness programme, “The Rise in Cancer Cases and Way Forward,” was held in Jeddah, bringing together community members and healthcare professionals to deepen public understanding of cancer prevention, early detection, modern treatment options, and the vital role of healthy lifestyle choices. The programme served as a meaningful platform to transform awareness into informed action, leaving participants flabbergasted by the compelling insights and revelations, while reinforcing the crucial message that early detection, preventive care, and timely medical intervention can save lives.
The programme was organised by Mohammed Layeeq, an austere and dedicated community leader, Vice President, Global Telangana Forum (GTF) and Jeddah Convener, along with Dr. Khaja Yaminuddin, Vice President–Public Relations, Indian Medical Doctors Forum (IDMF), KSA, in collaboration with community partners.The gathering commenced with a Qirath recitation by Mohammed Abdul Haseeb.
The second session was insightfully led by Dr. Khaja Yaminuddin, Diabetes Care Specialist and Vice President–PR, IDMF, who delivered a compelling presentation on the intricate relationship between lifestyle, diabetes and other chronic ailments. With his extensive expertise and practical approach, Dr. Yaminuddin emphasised the crucial role of preventive healthcare, advocating balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, healthy weight management, adequate sleep, effective stress control, periodic medical check-ups and the avoidance of unhealthy habits.
His insightful guidance offered the audience practical strategies for embracing healthier lifestyles and reducing the risk of chronic diseases. Dr. Yaminuddin’s candid and insightful session added considerable depth and value to the programme, empowering community members with greater awareness of preventive healthcare, responsible disease management, and the importance of making informed health choices.
The organisers expressed appreciation to the participating doctors, guests and community members for their valuable support. IDMF, under the leadership of President Dr. Ashfaq Maniyar, Vice President Dr. Revathy, General Secretary Dr. Mohd Saleem and Joint Secretary Dr. Farheen, continues to spearhead health camps, awareness programmes and webinars for the community.
Likewise, GTF, under the leadership of President Mohammed Jabbar, Vice President Mohammed Layeeq, and General Secretary Imtiyaz Shaikh, remains steadfast in its commitment to community welfare through meaningful awareness initiatives and socially impactful programmes.
The collaborative initiative reaffirmed the shared commitment of GTF and IDMF to building a better-informed, health-conscious and resilient Indian community in Saudi Arabia. Both organisations pledged to sustain and expand such initiatives, working collectively to promote preventive healthcare, encourage healthier lifestyles, and contribute to the well-being of the community.
