JEDDAH: The Women’s Wing of the OICC Western Regional Committee, Jeddah, has congratulated the UDF government for implementing free travel for women on KSRTC buses, describing the initiative as a significant step towards women’s empowerment and social inclusion.
At a meeting held under the leadership of President Moushmi Shareef, members said the scheme would provide substantial relief to women, particularly those from economically weaker and middle-income families, by enhancing mobility, financial independence, and access to opportunities. They noted that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to judicious, welfare-oriented, and inclusive governance, aimed at enhancing social equity and improving the quality of life for all sections of society.
The forum also appreciated the government’s broader developmental initiatives, including Operation Toofan, stating that such measures demonstrate a people-centric approach focused on public welfare, administrative efficiency, and social progress. They further observed that the government’s trenchant and decisive interventions in addressing public concerns reflect a strong commitment to effective governance and sustainable development.
General Secretary Simi Abdul Khader and office-bearers Jancy Mohan, Sophia Sunil, Ramseena Zakir, and Shireen Afsar addressed the gathering and expressed support for the government’s welfare measures.
The meeting concluded with members expressing confidence that such progressive policies would contribute to greater social equity, women’s empowerment, and the overall development of the state. They also noted that governments willing to “go the extra mile” in addressing public concerns and implementing welfare-oriented initiatives are instrumental in bringing meaningful and lasting social change.
