Riyadh – The Embassy of India in Riyadh continued the celebrations of the third edition of “Pravasi Parichay,” a week-long cultural festival that runs from October 28 to November 3, 2025. The festival, which was first launched in 2023 in association with Indian diaspora organizations in Saudi Arabia, aims to showcase the richness and diversity of India’s cultural heritage through traditional and contemporary performances from various states.
This year’s event also coincides with National Unity Day on October 31, reinforcing the message of India’s unity in diversity. The festival has received an overwhelming response from the Indian community in Saudi Arabia, with several cultural and community groups contributing their efforts to make it a grand success.
On Day Three, held on October 30, the spotlight was on the states of Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan. The celebration began with a colorful and energetic cultural parade featuring Chenda Melam, Nasik Dhol, Thalapoli, and a lively performance by the School Band Melam. The parade was flagged off by the Ambassador of India, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, marking the beginning of another memorable evening of cultural festivities.
At the Embassy Auditorium, the formal program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Ambassador, joined by state coordinators and members of the steering committee. The performances that followed beautifully represented India’s cultural depth and artistic variety.
Kerala’s segment included the elegant Mohiniyattam, the rhythmic Thiruvadira dance, an innovative Kerala Fusion Dance blending traditional and modern elements, and the graceful Oppana dance. From Uttar Pradesh came a soulful Qawwali performance that highlighted the state’s syncretic traditions. The group dance from Delhi combined classical and modern choreography, reflecting the city’s vibrant spirit. Rajasthan’s section brought energy and color with traditional folk dances, melodious Rajasthani songs, and a humorous skit that entertained the audience. Haryana’s performers added to the excitement with their dynamic group cultural dance, showcasing the region’s folk flavor.
Pravasi Parichay continues to serve as a wonderful platform for the Indian diaspora in Saudi Arabia to celebrate and promote the cultural heritage of India. The state-themed celebrations have allowed participants to express their pride in their traditions while sharing them with a wider audience.
The festival will continue with three more state day programs scheduled for October 31, November 1, and November 2, which promise to bring even more colorful and captivating displays of India’s diverse art and culture.
