Hyderabad, July 3, 2025 – A distinguished gathering of Non-Resident Indian (NRI) journalists convened at the Peshawar Restaurant in Hyderabad, fostering meaningful discussions on community issues and current affairs. The event brought together prominent figures, including Shahed Ali Khan, Founder of Straight Path News and former journalist of Saudi Gazette, K. N. Wasif, Senior Journalist and Columnist of Urdu News and Siasat Daily, Syed Zia ur Rahman, Editor & CEO of YaHind.Com, Mohammed Saifuddin, Joint Editor of YaHind.Com, and Mir Mohsin Ali, Senior Journalist.
It is worth mentioning that Javid Hassan, Renowned Senior Journalist of Arab News, also joined the meeting via video conference call from Bengaluru (Bangalore). He shared that he is working on his new book project after returning from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focusing on the experiences of Indians returning from the Gulf after a long time, as well as a book on Islamic Work Ethics.
The journalists reminisced about their time working together in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, cherishing shared memories and reflecting on their contributions to society through impactful journalism. The reunion also marked a celebration of YaHind.Com’s 25 years of dedicated service to the Indian community, a journey that began humbly and has grown to become a significant voice for NRIs.
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of K. N. Wasif, who was recently honored with the Special Overseas Journalist Award by the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation (TUWJF) for his outstanding global contributions. The group expressed gratitude to the TUWJF for initiating the Special Overseas Journalist Award this year and hoped they would continue this recognition in the future. The group also lauded Shahed Ali Khan for his unwavering commitment to community service through Straight Path News, which he has single-handedly managed for the past eight years. Additionally, Mohammed Saifuddin was congratulated on the release of his new book, Saif-O-Qalam, a significant milestone in his journalistic and literary career.
The journalists resolved to meet regularly to address pressing issues concerning NRIs and the broader Indian community. Through their collective journalistic efforts, they aim to raise awareness among the public and bring critical matters to the attention of state and central governments, fostering solutions through informed discourse.

I appreciate Syed Zia ur Rahman, CEO & Editor of YaHind.com, a news portal for thoroughness of coverage of the issues discussed in the meeting of senior NRI journalists that met at a hotel in Hyderabad after returning back from Saudi Arabia.
The most important proposal made at the meeting of this senior journalists was need for launching a newspaper that can cater and represent the Indian Muslim community.
The senior journalists that returned after serving for a long time working with different newspapers in Saudi Arabia can pool their energies and resources and the utilise experience in the field of media!
