RIYADH: Cricket, often celebrated as more than just a sport, is a timeless embodiment of passion, camaraderie, resilience, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence which, fondly hailed as a game of glorious uncertainties, transcends cultural and linguistic boundaries, embodying the timeless values of teamwork, discipline, and mutual respect.
Embracing this enduring spirit, the Saudi Arabia Telugu Association (SATA) Riyadh successfully organized the SATA Night Cricket Tournament on Thursday, 23 July 2026, as a prelude to the Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam (TBD) Celebrations, scheduled to be commemorated on 18 September 2026.
The tournament concluded on a high note, with all participating teams exhibiting exemplary sportsmanship, unwavering discipline, and remarkable team spirit. Most of the scheduled fixtures were completed successfully, transforming the event into a memorable sporting spectacle that fostered fellowship, healthy competition, and the true essence of cricket.
The tournament marked a historic milestone as organized for the Telugu community in Saudi Arabia, heralding a new era of sporting excellence and community bonding among Telugu expatriates. Beyond the excitement on the field, the event reflected SATA’s unwavering commitment to fostering unity, friendship, and a vibrant sporting culture. The organizers ensured the comfort and well-being of every participant by providing uninterrupted access to drinking water and all essential amenities, contributing to the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.
SATA extended its heartfelt gratitude to all the participating teams, captains, players, volunteers, supporters, and well-wishers whose unwavering cooperation and enthusiasm made the tournament a reverberating success. SATA Riyadh Chapter President Mr. Srinivas Macha expressed his sincere appreciation to the Core Team members—Mr. Khaja Muzammil Uddin, Mr. Mohammed Nooruddin, and Mr. Singu Naresh—for their exceptional commitment, meticulous planning, and tireless efforts in ensuring the seamless organization of the event. He also acknowledged the invaluable guidance and steadfast encouragement of SATA Founder Mr. Malleshan, whose visionary leadership, together with the dedicated support of the Riyadh Chapter, played a pivotal role in making the inaugural night cricket tournament a memorable and historic success.
SATA also conveyed its heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Veerapalli Yogesh Babu, Mr. Ahmed Shahbaz (Hulchul Café), Mr. Suresh, Mr. Shankar, and all SATA Core Team members for their gracious presence, steadfast encouragement, and invaluable support.
