Ms Maha Khan and Ms Ifra Khanam
Hyderabad, March 9, 2026 – In a significant achievement for Indian academia, two research scholars from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have been selected for the highly competitive Erasmus+ KA171 Mobility Programme, marking a milestone in international research collaboration.
Ms Maha Khan and Ms Ifra Khanam, both pursuing their research under the supervision of Dr Inamuddin in the Department of Applied Chemistry, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, AMU, will undertake a two-month international traineeship at Politehnica University of Timişoara, Romania.
The traineeship, running from February 28 to May 3, 2026, focuses on the cutting-edge field of biofuel cell development. The scholars are part of the 2022–2027 cycle of the Erasmus+ KA171 programme, funded by the European Union to foster global academic exchange and research partnerships.
Notably, Ms Khan and Ms Khanam are the only two students from India selected under this specific KA171 inter-institutional agreement between AMU and Politehnica University of Timişoara. This exclusive selection underscores the strength of AMU’s research ecosystem and the growing international recognition of its work in sustainable energy.
The opportunity was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Dr Inamuddin, who serves as the Departmental Coordinator for the Erasmus+ programme at AMU. He has played a pivotal role in forging and strengthening ties with the Romanian institution. His research group is at the forefront of innovations in enzymatic biofuel cells and sustainable bioelectrodes, aimed at advancing clean energy technologies that harness biological processes for efficient, eco-friendly power generation.
The Erasmus+ KA171 programme is a flagship EU initiative designed to promote mobility beyond Europe, encouraging high-level research collaborations, knowledge transfer, and cross-cultural academic engagement.
This selection brings pride to AMU and highlights the potential of Indian researchers in global sustainable energy solutions.
YaHind.com congratulates Ms Maha Khan, Ms Ifra Khanam, Dr Inamuddin, and the entire team at AMU on this outstanding accomplishment. We wish the scholars a fruitful and enriching experience in Romania.
