RIYADH: In a stirring demonstration of civic responsibility and humanitarian spirit, the Riyadh Tamil Sangam (RTS) hosted a blood donation drive at King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh, on September 18, drawing more than 100 participants, of whom over 70 came forward to donate blood. Conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the initiative transformed collective goodwill into a tangible contribution to saving lives.
The programme gained added significance with the presence of His Excellency Mr. Vipul, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, who personally visited and inaugurated the camp. He was received by RTS President Alexander Thiyagaraj and Secretary Jiavudeen, who extended a warm welcome with bouquets. Ahmed Imthias, former RTS President and a member of the Steering Committee of the Embassy of India, Riyadh, facilitated the introduction of the Sangam’s senior leadership and executive committee members to the Ambassador.
Commending the Sangam’s sustained public-service activities, the Ambassador acknowledged its deep-rooted dedication to the welfare of the community and stressed the profound value of voluntary blood donation. He urged the organisers to carry forward their humanitarian initiatives, personally engaging with donors at the hospital’s blood donation unit and appreciating their altruism, civic consciousness, moral rectitude and unwavering willingness to serve humanity.
His Excellency presented certificates of appreciation to the donors and conveyed his warm wishes to the RTS office-bearers. In a gesture of esteem, the Sangam presented the Ambassador with a commemorative memento marking his visit.
The Sangam also placed on record its gratitude to the doctors, nurses and healthcare personnel of King Fahad Medical City, whose expertise and cooperation were instrumental in conducting the programme efficiently. The medical personnel were felicitated, while a commemorative shield was presented to the hospital authorities in recognition of their valued support.
Reflecting its attention to every aspect of the programme, RTS made well-considered arrangements for breakfast for donors, volunteers and organisers. The gesture underscored the Sangam’s thoughtful approach towards those who devoted their time and effort to the humanitarian cause.
