Iran strikes hospital in Israel
Beersheba, Israel – June 19, 2025, 7:36 PM IST: An Iranian ballistic missile struck Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, southern Israel, early Thursday, causing extensive damage and injuring 71 people. The attack, part of a barrage of 30 missiles targeting Israel, hit the hospital’s old surgical wing, demolishing wards and sparking fires. No fatalities were reported at Soroka, thanks to a prior evacuation, but 271 injuries were recorded nationwide, including six serious cases in Ramat Gan and Holon.
Israel condemned the strike as a “war crime,” accusing Iran of deliberately targeting civilians. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed the missile aimed at a nearby military base, with the hospital damaged by the blast wave. The attack follows Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites since June 13, escalating the ongoing conflict. The IDF retaliated Thursday, targeting Iran’s nuclear and energy infrastructure.
Soroka remains closed for non-emergency care, with 200 patients transferred. International calls for de-escalation grow, but no diplomatic progress has been reported. The conflict has killed 24 in Israel and over 224 in Iran since October 2023, per official figures.
