JEDDAH: A single donation can become a lifeline for a stranger. Giving concrete expression to this profound humanitarian principle, the Global Telangana Forum (GTF) conducted a blood donation camp at King Abdul Aziz Hospital (KAAH), Jeddah, on September 18, marking Saudi National Day and Indian Independence Day. The initiative brought the Indian community together in a compelling display of altruism, civic consciousness and human solidarity, while underscoring the community’s constructive role in Saudi society. Rather than merely commemorating two national occasions, the campaign translated goodwill into a practical act of service for patients requiring blood.
The camp was inaugurated by Kamlesh Kumar Meena, Consul (Labour and Community Welfare), Consulate General of India, Jeddah, who commended GTF for its sustained engagement in humanitarian and community-oriented activities. Meena described blood donation as a noble humanitarian endeavour with the potential to save precious lives. He particularly appreciated GTF President Mohammed Abdul Jabbar, Vice President Mohammed Layeeq and the entire GTF team for spearheading blood donation initiatives in different parts of the Kingdom.
Calling upon members of the Indian diaspora to embrace such causes, he stressed the importance of converting compassion into purposeful action and extending meaningful assistance to those facing medical emergencies. Linking the initiative with Saudi National Day, Meena said humanitarian programmes of this nature exemplify the friendship, mutual respect and enduring people-to-people relations between India and Saudi Arabia. He also acknowledged the substantial contribution of the Indian community to Saudi society and encouraged continued participation in humanitarian activities.
GTF President Mohammed Abdul Jabbar highlighted the intrinsic value of blood donation, describing it as “one of the simplest yet most meaningful ways of serving humanity.” He conveyed his appreciation to the donors, volunteers, organisers and supporters whose collective commitment gave momentum to the campaign.
GTF Vice President and Jeddah In-charge amiable Mohammed Layeeq emphasised that what may appear to be a small personal gesture can assume immense significance for a patient in distress. Further, he added, “We are grateful to every donor and volunteer who came forward for this noble cause. Every unit of blood donated can make a difference to someone in need. I sincerely thank all the community leaders, volunteers, donors and supporters for their valuable cooperation in making this camp a success.”
Layeeq extended his profound and unequivocal appreciation to Munaf (TNTJ), Faiz, Ali, Riyaz, Mohammed Yaseen, Osman Ahmed and Sameena for their valuable assistance and cooperation in ensuring the successful conduct of the camp. He also placed on record his gratitude to the management of King Abdul Aziz Hospital and its Blood Bank team, particularly Maryam Abdullah, Dr. Ayman and Dr. Ahmed, along with the laboratory and medical personnel, for their professional assistance and steadfast cooperation. Acknowledgement was also extended to the GTF core team and volunteers, including Shaikh Imtiyaz (GS), Mohammed Imran, Hussain Shabbir, Veeraswamy, Dr. Junaid, Dr. Abdul Mateen and Mohammed Faizuddin, whose painstaking efforts contributed substantially to the smooth execution of the programme. GTF also expressed appreciation for the generous support provided by Zakeriya of King Palace Restaurant.
The campaign received an enthusiastic response from members of the Indian community, with donors and volunteers stepping forward with a shared sense of purpose. Their participation transformed the blood drive into a poignant demonstration of generosity, philanthropy and collective responsibility. GTF has maintained a sustained record of organising blood donation campaigns in Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah, bringing members of the Indian community together around the common cause of saving lives and serving society. Its initiatives reflect the organisation’s enduring motto of “Service to Humanity” and its continuing engagement with humanitarian and social welfare causes.
Reiterating its commitment to carrying this mission forward, GTF pledged to widen its humanitarian outreach and extend assistance to those in need, irrespective of nationality, religion or background.
