New York, NY – December 25, 2025 – Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has appointed Imran Pasha, a proud Hyderabadi immigrant and dedicated community leader, to his transition committee focused on small businesses. Pasha’s inclusion underscores the administration’s commitment to diverse voices, particularly from South Asian and immigrant communities, as Mamdani prepares to address economic empowerment and affordability challenges starting January 1, 2026.
Pasha, who arrived in America in 2000 with dreams of building a better life, hails from Hyderabad, India a city renowned for its rich cultural heritage, iconic landmarks like the Charminar, and vibrant traditions. As a proud Hyderabadi, he carries forward the spirit of resilience and community that defines his hometown while making significant impacts in New York.
Over 25 years, Pasha has transformed neighborhoods through entrepreneurship, humanitarian efforts, and civic leadership. He founded a successful IT consulting firm supporting immigrant entrepreneurs, established the Federation of American and Indian Relief (FAIR) for food security and volunteer networks, and coordinated massive COVID-19 relief efforts impacting thousands in New York and over 500,000 in India. His founding of the New York Cricket Council has united diverse communities through sports, earning him awards like the 2023 New York State Senate Award.
Pasha’s deep ties to Mamdani include serving as a key campaign leader, mobilizing voter drives and grassroots support among South Asian and Muslim communities.
