Riyadh, October 30, 2025 – The third edition of “Pravasi Parichay,” the vibrant cultural festival organized by the Embassy of India in Riyadh, continued to enchant the Indian diaspora on its second day, October 29, 2025. Launched in 2023 in collaboration with Indian community associations across Saudi Arabia, the week-long extravaganza from October 28 to November 3 celebrates India’s kaleidoscopic cultural heritage through state-themed showcases of classical dance, music, folk arts, and delectable culinary traditions. This year’s event also aligns seamlessly with National Unity Day on October 31, underscoring the timeless ethos of “unity in diversity.”
Day two proved to be an unforgettable symphony of spirituality and cultural fervor, drawing large crowds to the “Mehfil-E-Sama” Qawwali performance. The evening pulsed with the soul-stirring rhythms of Sufism, as the acclaimed Shahid Sami Niyazi Brothers and their talented troupe from India took the stage. Renowned for their mastery of the genre, the performers wove a tapestry of timeless Sufi classics and innovative contemporary pieces, evoking deep devotion and emotional resonance. Attendees, spanning generations of the Indian community in Saudi Arabia, were transported into a realm of melodic bliss, where the air hummed with qawwalis that bridged hearts across borders. The event beautifully embodied the festival’s spirit—fostering cultural pride and reinforcing the enduring ties between India and its global diaspora.
In a parallel highlight that infused the evening with youthful energy, the Embassy hosted the “Bharat Ko Janiye” (Know India) Quiz competition, engaging bright minds from nine Indian schools in Riyadh. The quiz challenged participants on India’s illustrious heritage, history, geography, and cultural mosaic, showcasing the next generation’s passion for their roots. The competition sparked enthusiastic debates and revelations, with young quizzers demonstrating an impressive grasp of their homeland’s treasures.
The winners were honored in a special ceremony by His Excellency Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia. In his address, the Ambassador extended hearty congratulations to the victors and all participants, urging them to “nurture this vital connection with India, carrying forward our shared legacy with pride and curiosity.” The event not only celebrated intellectual prowess but also highlighted the pivotal role of diaspora organizations in curating such interactive platforms that keep India’s vibrant narrative alive among expatriate youth.
As Pravasi Parichay unfolds, it stands as a beacon of cultural exchange, with more state-themed spectacles and community engagements slated for the coming days. The festival’s resounding success underscores the thriving Indian community’s contributions to Saudi Arabia’s multicultural fabric, promising deeper bonds and cherished memories.
