Hyderabad, September 26, 2025 – The three-day National Workshop on “Capacity Building for Working Urdu Journalists,” organized by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), Ministry of Education, Government of India, in collaboration with the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), concluded on September 25, 2025, in Hyderabad.
The valedictory session was graced by Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor of MANUU, who inspired students with his motivational address. Reciting poetry, he created a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere, urging young journalists to strive for excellence in their careers.
Chief Guest Dr. Nagendra Kumar Singh, Director, MGKVP, Varanasi, highlighted the significance of languages in India, emphasizing the pivotal role of Urdu journalism and the transformative impact of media in society. He also distributed certificates to participants, recognizing their active involvement.
Dr. Mustafa Ali Sarwari shared his reflections on the workshop’s success, while Dr. Mohd. Fariyad, Dean & Head of the Department, welcomed the dignitaries. A detailed report on the 12 technical sessions, conducted by distinguished resource persons, was presented by Mr. Mohd. Tahir Qureshi, Assistant Professor. The sessions covered critical topics to enhance the skills of Urdu journalists.
Participants, including Mr. Yameen Ansari and Mr. Asad Kamal Lari, expressed gratitude for the practical insights and valuable knowledge gained during the workshop. Dr. Meraj Ahmed, Assistant Professor, moderated the valedictory session, and Dr. Danish Khan, Guest Faculty, proposed the vote of thanks.
The workshop featured engaging technical sessions, including Dr. Asif Ali from Ruby TV, Hyderabad, discussing “Basics of Mobile Journalism (MoJo) in Urdu,” Dr. Waseem Rashid addressing “Personality Development for Women in Journalism,” and Dr. Nagendra Kumar Singh exploring “Issues & Challenges in Field Reporting.” The sessions were moderated by research scholars Mr. Salman Khan, Ms. Sadiya Najar, and Mr. Shehzan Khan.
The event marked a significant step in empowering Urdu journalists with modern skills and knowledge to excel in the dynamic media landscape.
