A 29-year-old Indian expatriate, Issac Paul Olakkengil, lost his life during a scuba diving session at Jumeirah Beach in Dubai on June 6, 2025, during the Eid Al Adha holidays. Issac, a civil engineer from Kerala working in the UAE, suffered a fatal heart attack after experiencing breathing difficulties underwater, according to family reports. He was diving with his wife, Reshma, and younger brother, Ivin, in a designated training area when the incident occurred.
Pyarilos Davis, a relative assisting the family, told Media that Issac struggled to breathe during the beginners’ training session and drifted away from the group, causing panic among the divers. Despite efforts to rescue him, Issac could not be revived. Reshma was brought to shore first, followed by Issac and Ivin. The family is cooperating with Dubai police, who have seized the diving equipment for investigation and are working to repatriate Issac’s remains to India after securing necessary legal documents.
Issac and Reshma were based in Dubai, while Ivin, also an engineer, resides in Abu Dhabi. The brothers shared a close bond, and Ivin was informed of the tragedy only on June 7, 2025, due to concerns about breaking the news to him. The incident has left the family devastated, with Pyarilos noting the profound loss felt by all.
