Riyadh, September 9, 2025 – The India Pavilion at INDEX Saudi Arabia 2025 was inaugurated with great enthusiasm by H.E. Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The event, held from September 9–11, 2025, at the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Centre, marks a significant moment for India’s handicraft sector as it aligns with Saudi Arabia’s celebration of the Year of Handicrafts in 2025.
An interactive session titled “India – The Ideal Destination for Handicrafts Sourcing” was held on the sidelines of the exhibition. Ambassador Khan delivered a keynote address, emphasizing that India’s handicraft industry supports over 7 million artisans, many of whom are women and from rural communities. He highlighted the Government of India’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, which promotes unique crafts from every district. The session was attended by prominent Saudi industry leaders, including renowned designer Ms. Iman AbdulEllah Abuljadayel, and representatives from leading Saudi companies.
The India Pavilion at INDEX Saudi Arabia 2025 showcases India’s rich heritage of craftsmanship, featuring leading Indian handicraft exporters and live demonstrations by five National Award-winning artisans. These master craftspersons include:
• Mr. Man Mohan Soni (Uttar Pradesh) – Metal Engraving Crafts
• Mr. Prem Chand (New Delhi) – Terracotta Crafts
• Mr. Prethap Poothamcode Arjunan (Kerala) – Coconut Shell Crafts
• Ms. Umme Salma Khatun (West Bengal) – Kantha Embroidery
• Ms. Jashobanti Meher (Odisha) – Natural Fibre Crafts
The pavilion stands as a symbol of India’s craftsmanship, creativity, and sustainability, offering Saudi buyers and design professionals unique sourcing opportunities. Leading Indian companies participating include:
