Jeddah, September 23 (YaHind.Com) – A vibrant grand reception and get-together was hosted on the evening of September 19 at Lasani Restaurant in Jeddah to welcome Dr. Shamsi, a senior core member of the Foundation for Education and Welfare (FEW) from India. The event drew a large gathering of Indian community leaders, celebrating FEW’s enduring commitment to uplifting marginalized youth through education.
Established in 1998 in Jeddah by a dedicated group of visionary, like-minded individuals, FEW aims to secure brighter futures for underprivileged youngsters in India who lack the financial means to pursue education. Initially, the organization focused on sponsoring higher education and professional courses for select individuals facing economic hardships.
However, the release of the Sachar Committee Report in 2007 revealed alarming statistics: 30% of community children never attended school, and 40% dropped out after just 2-3 years due to financial constraints. This prompted FEW to pivot in 2008 toward enrolling young children in primary schools and funding their education. Evolving further, FEW now rents a school building in Aligarh, employs teachers, and fully manages primary education for poor children. With active support from Dr. Shamsi and a team of salaried staff, the school currently educates 80-90 students from classes 1 to 5.
In his keynote address, Dr. Shamsi highlighted the school’s ongoing activities and future plans for the children. He also shared insights into his collaborations with various individuals and organizations dedicated to societal betterment, including his personal involvement in multiple charity initiatives in Aligarh.
The program was skillfully conducted by Fuzail Ahmad and sponsored by FEW’s senior core member, Mr. Mobin Khan. Event management was handled by Mr. Muzammil. Alongside Dr. Shamsi, prominent community leaders such as Mr. Azizurrab, Mr. Nooruddin Khan, Mr. Arif Quraishi, and Mr. Bahjat addressed the audience, sharing inspiring messages.
Adding to the evening’s highlights, Mr. Muzammil distributed copies of a newly published book authored by esteemed community leader Mr. A.G. Danish, who is based in Riyadh. The gathering concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Mr. Mubeen Khan, followed by a lavish dinner enjoyed by all attendees.
