Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – In alignment with the Government of India’s ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ mission, the Consulate General of India (CGI) in Jeddah, in collaboration with the Indian Doctors Medical Forum (IDMF), organized a comprehensive health awareness session and medical screening camp. The initiative aimed to promote health literacy, encourage proactive health management, and foster a culture of wellness within diplomatic circles.
The event, spearheaded by His Excellency Consul General of India Shri Fahad Khan Suri, brought together medical professionals and consulate staff in a joint effort to emphasize preventive healthcare. Over 100 staff members and their families participated, benefiting from essential health screenings, consultations, and expert guidance. The high turnout underscored the community’s growing appreciation for preventive measures and wellness practices.
Inaugurating the session, Shri Fahad Khan Suri commended the medical fraternity for their dedicated service and urged consulate personnel to prioritize their health despite demanding schedules. Dr. Farheen, Joint Secretary of IDMF, served as the Master of Ceremony, extending a warm welcome to all speakers and attendees.
Key presentations highlighted various aspects of health and wellness. Dr. Ashfaq Maniyar, President of IDMF and a senior ophthalmologist, emphasized the importance of eye care for all age groups, advocating for early detection of vision problems. Dr. Khaja Yaminuddin, IDMF’s Public Relations Officer, delivered an insightful talk on diabetes management, focusing on the foundational elements of a healthy lifestyle: balanced nutrition, sufficient sleep, and regular exercise.
Dr. Habib Alam, a pediatric specialist, provided practical advice on child care through an engaging discussion on daily dos and don’ts. Meanwhile, Dr. Mohd Saleem, General Secretary of IDMF and an oral maxillofacial surgeon, stressed the critical role of dental hygiene, particularly for children.
Under the theme ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ (Healthy Woman, Empowered Family), discussions on breast health awareness were led by Dr. Husna Nilofer, a specialist gynecologist, and Dr. Rahimunnisa, a general practitioner. They addressed participants’ queries and promoted overall women’s wellness.
Consulate staff expressed gratitude for the initiative, with one official noting, “It was enlightening; we gained valuable insights.” Dr. Ashfaq Maniyar added, “Events like these bridge the gap between healthcare and busy professionals.”
The Indian Doctors Medical Forum, operating under the patronage of the Consulate General of India, comprises dedicated medical professionals committed to advancing healthcare and community service. Their outreach programs frequently focus on awareness and preventive care, reinforcing the significance of health in professional environments.
