Hyderabad, December 16, 2025 (YaHind.Com Special Report): A new beacon was lit in the world of Urdu literature with the grand launch of author Atiya Fatima’s book “Feminine Sensibility in Ismat Chughtai’s Novels and Short Stories.” Organized by the Urdu Cultural Heritage Foundation, the event took place at Media Plus, Gun Foundry, Hyderabad, on December 14, 2025, at 5 PM. Urdu enthusiasts and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) residing in Hyderabad attended in large numbers. The proceedings were masterfully compered by Gold Medalist Dr. Atiya Mujeeb, whose eloquence and poise kept the audience captivated throughout.
The formal inauguration began with a warm welcome address to the chief guests by Architect Imran Ahmad Saleem. The book release was performed by Architect Mohammad Abdul Rahman Saleem, Founder and President of the Urdu Cultural Heritage Foundation, marking yet another milestone in his dedication to Urdu literature. The chief guests presented in-depth analyses of the book, including prominent figures from Urdu literature such as Dr. Syed Mustafa Kamal, Editor Shagoofa, Dr. Ashraf Rafi (former Head of Urdu Department, Osmania University), Allama Ejaz Farrukh, Dr. Oudesh Rani Bawa, and Dr. Raoof Khair. Due to Dr. M.A. Qadir’s absence, his analysis was ably presented by Janab Ghouse Arsalan, which was highly appreciated by the audience.
On this occasion, renowned calligrapher Ghouse Arsalan gifted exquisite pieces of his calligraphy to the chief guests, adding a vibrant touch to the event. Discussions on the book’s theme highlighted the depth of feminine sensibility in Ismat Chughtai’s works and the amplification of women’s voices in Urdu literature, leaving the attendees deeply inspired.
A highlight of the evening was a Mushaira (poetry recital), presided over by Architect Mohammad Abdul Rahman Saleem. Poets Janab Khalid Baseer, Dr. Sardar Saleem, Dr. Raoof Khair, and the president himself enthralled the audience with their selected verses, infusing the literary atmosphere with even greater warmth and passion.
In her closing remarks, author Atiya Fatima expressed her gratitude to the attendees, stating that the book is a humble tribute to Ismat Chughtai’s contributions to Urdu literature, and their encouragement will propel her forward.
The event concluded with refreshments including dinner boxes and tea, making it a truly memorable affair. The Urdu Cultural Heritage Foundation’s initiative is a significant step in promoting Urdu literature, playing a key role in preserving Hyderabad’s rich literary traditions.
