Riyadh – Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni Association Riyadh (JMIAAR) elected its new Managing Committee for the two years term from 2023 to 2025.
The glittering installation ceremony was held in Riyadh wherein all the newly elected members took their charges and expressed their commitment to dedicatedly work for the Jamia alumni and the Indian community.
Three-member election commission was formed to ensure that elections are conducted in free and fair manner. Engineer Ghafran Ahmed was elected as the President, Neemu Khan was elected as Vice President. Other office bearers are Eng. Tarique Emam (General Secretary), Mateen Alam (Joint Secretary) and Haroon Qasmi (Treasurer).
Apart from this, 14 executive members were inducted in the committee. Three women alumni of Jamia were also included in this committee as Executive members. Election commissioner Rasheed Farooq Falahi introduced the newly elected Executive members.
Chief Guest Prof. Sarwar Hussain advised the Jamia alumni to work for the betterment of their alma mater and prove that our relationship with the Jamia remains strong and unbreakable despite being thousands of miles away. He said that Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi is not just the university, but it is the name of a great thought. Its unique feature is that it is a triangle of strength, patience and resistance.
In his address the newly elected President Ghafran Ahmad thanked the Jamia alumni for electing him and said that the members of the organization will live up to the trust placed on them. He appealed to the former committee and all the members for their cooperation. Other newly elected officials also addressed the gathering.
Jamia alumni and representatives of various educational, social and cultural organizations graced the installation ceremony.
Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Tanseer Ahmed and Election Commissioner Shabbir Nadvi presented the detailed report on the election process.
Dr. Inamul Haq conducted the proceedings as master of ceremony. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Qari Sadiq Majeed Qasmi. Dr. Tanseer Ahmed proposed vote of thanks.
