Riyadh – Indian community in Riyadh welcomed the new ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan at a grand community reception arranged in his honor by All India Steering Committee at Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Representatives of various social, cultural and educational organizations from Riyadh and other cities presented traditional shawls, floral bouquet, garlands and several other gifts to the Ambassador.
Speaking on this occasion Dr. Khan said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a very important strategic partner of India, and we are constantly exploring all avenues for diversifying and expanding our relations in various fields.
Responding to the suggestions and requests by the social workers expressed in their speeches, Dr. Khan said that the doors of the embassy are always open for all Indians. Every day is like open house for the embassy officials hence there is no need to have separate open house.
He was impressed to witness India’s diversity at this huge gathering where the whole India was represented.
Dr. Khan said that during the 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Saudi Arabia have been very important for both the countries. With the arrival of film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan here, our cultural relations have been strengthened manifold. He thanked Saudi officials for their warm attitude for bilateral engagements which he witnessed in his recent engagements after taking charge as Indian Ambassador.
Quoting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who said every non-resident Indian is ambassador of the country, he said every Indian has an important role to play in our cordial relationship with Saudi Arabia.
Ambassador of India Sohail Ijaz Khan also invited the Saudi people to visit India during his address. The event started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mohamemd Shamsuddin. In his welcome address, steering committee convener Zaigham Khan assured full support of the community to the Ambassador.
On this occasion prominent social activists and community leaders addressed the gathering they include Shahab Katukad, Imtiaz Ahmed, Deepak Satish, Dr. Misbah-ul-Arifin, Sultan Mazharuddin, Mohammed Abdul Jabar, Abrar Hussain, Muhammad Mubeen, Santosh Shetty, Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Azmi, Sajan Latif and Ghulam Mohammed Khan.
As the emcee of the event Taqiuddin Mir conducted the proceedings eloquently. Senior NRI Abdul Ahad Siddiqui delivered vote of thanks. The grand ceremony concluded with the recitation of the Indian and Saudi national anthems.
