Free Artificial Limb camp to be held in Lebanon

Riyadh – Free Artificial Limb (Jaipur Foot) camp will be organized in Lebanon to facilitate the needy people of the country. Embassy of India, Beirut will organize this camp with the help of Ministry of Public Health of Lebanon. Indian Ambassador to Lebanon Dr. Suhel Aijaz Khan and Lebanon’s Minister of Public Health Dr. Firas Abiad jointly announced this in Beirut.

The artificial lamb fitment camp will be held in Physiotherapy Department of Rafiq Hariri University hospital for three weeks in January and February. During this camp, 300 artificial below the knee limbs will be provided and fitted free of cost on the spot. Exact dates of the camp will be announced by the Indian embassy soon.

Jaipur foot is a Rapid Fit Limb. It is cosmetically and functionally close to human limb and permits normal sitting, running, squatting, climbing, walking, swimming, performing salah etc. It is very light and durable. It is provided by prominent NGO in India, Shree Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayta Samiti (BMVSS). It is the world’s largest organization for handicapped people and has special consultative status with ECOSOC.

BVMSS is working in artificial limb technology form 1975. Till now they have provided more than two million artificial limbs to various beneficiaries. In India, the organization works entirely on charity and all the services to people are provided free of cost.
