Fact check training certificates presented to Urdu journalists

Hyderabad – US Consul General Hyderabad Ms. Jennifer Larson said that USA, India and many other countries are facing the challenges of fake news and misinformation. In such a situation training the journalists to fact check is very important.

She was addressing the award of certificates ceremony at Salarjung Museum Auditorium. In this event certificates were presented to the Urdu journalists who attended the training from February to September.

This training “HydFactCheck23” was the project of countering misinformation for urdu journalists, organise by the US Consulate general Hyderabad and osmania University.

DGP Anjani Kumar said that journalists have a great responsinility to check the facts before posting any news on social media. He said that in a democratic country like India, posting fake news with irrelevant pictures from foreign countries not only create bad impression but also tarnishes the image of our country. He also thanked the Consul General for organizing this important training.

Stephen, Osmania University Journalism Department welcomed the gathering and MA Majid Journalist and member of press Council proposed vote of thanks. Large number of journalists from print and electronic media and other dignitaries attended the event.

Abdul Basith from US Consul General played an important role in organizing this training projects to Urdu journalists.

Mementos of appreciation and traditional shawls were presented to Consul General Jennifer Larson, DGP Anjani Kumar, Abdul Basith and others.

Guest of honor, Chairman, Telangana Press Academy, Allam Narayan presented the certificates along with other dignitaries.
