The first of its kind exhibition, which would go on until June 16th, features carved and decorated ostrich, emu, rhea, goose and chicken eggs. According to Farha, the art of egg decoration goes back to early civilizations, when eggs were colored and used as gifts to celebrate many events. "The high point of all time was reached in the fabulous egg-shaped treasures created by the imaginative goldsmith of Russia, Peter Carl Faberge and his meticulous artists and craftsmen. Their creations have provided inspiration to many real eggshell decorators all over the world," she said.
She said the decorated eggs featured in the current exhibition are individually handcrafted making each piece a masterpiece of its own kind. "Each egg has been created with great precision and ingenuity and involved several hours of intricate work," she said.
Farha's maiden full-fledged exhibition of Decorated Eggs and Silk Paintings was hosted by the Frederiksberg Commune, Denmark at Byggeriets Hus from April 8- May 9, 2004. A part of Farha's collection of decorated eggs was also displayed in the International Ramadan Exhibition titled "Ramadan around the World" held at Jeddah in October, 2005.
Her work of art has been widely acclaimed by people from all walks of life. The exhibition is open to all. For details, please visit: www.eggdeco.com.
